IT’S US
They are us – and we are them. Chimpanzee Charly and gorilla Massa are genetically closer to the photographers Heidi & Hans than to orangutan Sita in the neighbor enclosure of the zoo. This is something worth to think about. Maybe it is a small comfort that it concerns us all. We are one family, also scientifically. Orangutans, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, AND humans are belonging to the same family Hominidae. We all are Great Apes. In our images, the relationship should not only be visible, but we also want to make it really felt. The impressions should touch us in the best sense. Because these are our people. Perhaps the close relationship is bigger than some of us would like to admit. We’re all just monkeys. Pardon, apes of course.
